Kristina's Color Inspiration Challenge #3

So here is the beautiful inspiration for the card I came up with for Kristina's Color Challenge.

The colors for the challenge are Orchid Opulence, Rose Red, Pumpkin Pie, Basic Black, and Whisper White.
We were supposed to use a minimal amount of black for the card. When I saw the inspiration picture I immediately thought of my new and unused set, Stitched Exotics. I also needed to make a thank you card and so this was the perfect challenge for that because this card can pretty much be turned into an any occasion card!

Supplies:
Stamp Sets: Stitched Exotics, Much Appreciated
Paper: Orchid Opulence, Rose Red, Pumpkin Pie, Basic Black, Whisper White
Ink: Orchid Opulence, Rose Red, Pumpkin Pie, Basic Black
Accessories: Circle Punches in 1/4", 1/2", 1 1/4", and 1 3/8", Large Oval Punch, Fire Rhinestone Brads Squares, Stampin Dimensionals

Quick Easter Baskets

These are some quick and easy Easter Baskets that I made for the Young Women at Church. I used some retired DSP and cut them to be 6"x6", I scored them at 1.5" on all sides. I made a scallop punch all the way around using my corner rounder. I then used some of the SU! Retired Organdy ribbon and attached it with a staple on either side!

Blush Flower

This is a quick, simple and elegant card that we made at my ladies' night, last night. That is why there wasn't a post yesterday, I was busy cutting card stock and getting my house picked up. Anyway, this card also features the new Hodgepodge Hardware (So Pretty) and the Poly Twill ribbon (Love it) from the Occasions Mini Catalog. I scalloped the bottom edge of the DSP Prints Paper with my corner rounder, I like to do that a lot on my cards. I think scallops are SO Pretty.

Paper: DSP Close to Cocoa Prints, Blush Blossom
Ink: Chocolate Chip
Accessories: Chocolate Chip Polly Twill Ribbon, Flower Ribbon Slide from the Hodgepodge Hardware Styled Silver, Silver Brads, Corner rounder punch, Stampin' Dimensionals

Love and Happiness Pinewood Derby

So this is my battered car after a long night of racing. You might be thinking that I am too old to be racing a pinewood derby car but it turns out that our scouting program only has a few cub scouts so our church opened it up to the adults, with NO RULES! We call our creation the Great White Whale!

I thought it would be perfect to put some of my new Rub-Ons on the car. They went on Beautifully. My husband did the carving with what we had at our house. He hollowed out the bottom of the car and put in a lot of lead solder, in the real races cars can only be 5 oz. or less, ours weighed in at 12.7 oz, the heaviest car there!

I think we would have had a good chance at winning the Adult open race except we had a little tragedy. If you have noticed I have been only taking pictures of one side, that is because one of the front wheels came off in one of the races. Apparently all the kids were playing with all the cars before the races and ours was dropped in the process. It turns out the two wheels on one side were bent in.

This is a picture of the underside of the car, not the prettiest but it worked! My husband filled it in with the lead and then put an epoxy over the top, it looks pretty cool. He also had to epoxy in two of the wheels because the wheel slots were damaged when the bottom was being carved out. One of the epoxied wheel is the one that broke off and we didn't bring extra epoxy with us to fix it. Bummer! It was a lot of fun anyway!
