Slight Bloggin' Break

I leave today to go on my vacation to visit my family. I will be gone just about two weeks. I will try to post things while I am at my parent's house but I can not guarantee anything. While we are in Sunny California we will be going water skiing for a week and there is NO Internet access there, GASP! What am I going to do? Aaack! So during that time it is sad to say but there will be no posts during that time. I couldn't sleep past 4 AM this morning because I had forgotten to make the card to go with the Brag Book that I made, and because I am so excited to go to California, so I got up and made this card to go along with the album. Conveniently my order of ribbon came in yesterday and I was able to add some to this card. They have such pretty ribbon in the New Catalog. I think I could go on and on about this thing. Anyway, I was so excited to find out that some of the ribbon on the Beachfront Ribbons Origionals matches the River Rock Card Stock. I love that everything matches!
Supplies:
Stamp Sets: Ahoy, Matey, Holidays & Wishes
Paper: River Rock, Soft Sky, Whisper White, Soft Sky Prints
Ink: Chocolate Chip, Close to Cocoa, Creamy Caramel, Soft Sky, Blue Bayou, River Rock
Accessories: Beachfront Ribbons Origionals, Blender Pen, Stampin' Dimensionals, Stampin' Sponge, corner rounder punch

Hi Shawntel!I love your blog-and I love stamping stuff, so it's only natural that I should comment! = )I would like to see... maybe some step-by-step instructions for folding cards certain ways. Like for the card that flips around, or the "old lady color" (ha) one that the middle part pulled up...that's all i can think of. But I love your site and all the ideas! You're the best! = )

Congratulations Sarah! Contact me with your information and I will get you your Stampin' Sweets!

Thank you all for all your kind and wonderful comments. I definitely need to come up with some tutorials to post.
I told you I wouldn't show you any more pages for this Brag Book but I am going to share with you the outside cover. I love the linen albums that Stampin' Up Offers, they are high quality and they look so nice and you can stamp on them. Make sure if you do decide to stamp on the cover that you use the Craft pads and NOT the Classic pads because they just fade where the Craft pads hold their color SO much better.

Here is a close up of the tag. I used my Timber Brown Stazon Pad and stamped the ship and used my blender pen, of course, to watercolor the image on a tag that came from SU!'s Tag Sheets. I then sponged around the edges in Close to Cocoa ink and glued the tag on Blue Bayou CS and cut a border. I took 3 little tags and sponged around them in Soft Sky, River Rock, and Blue Bayou and stamped on them with Everyday Flexible Phrases, sweet, little and boy. I tied them all on with Taupe Ribbon and Hemp twine.

Want to open my first order from the New Catalog with Me?

Well, the UPS man came today with a wonderful delivery just for me! I just love opening the box so I thought I would share the excitement with you all. Here are some of the stamp sets I ordered. I have lots of fun ideas for each one! I got a lot of fun accessories including the build a flower, long notes in the New In Colors, and the Pick a Petal Embossing Template! Oh, the beautiful paper! I can't wait to get some more! Punches . . . need I say more! I love these things! Okay, I think this Pretties Kit was the thing I was most anxious to get. I am so excited to dye the flowers and use them on some cards or scrapbook pages. So I made a silly mistake and this picture is the result. I was meaning to buy the set Bundled with Love, and its order number is 109288. I ended up putting in the number 109228 which is the number for this Simply Sent Kit, one number off. So, I will have to send this back and fix my mess-up. Oh well, I know I have learned that I will always check my orders twice.

I Finished . . .

My pages for the Brag Book I have been working on, all 10 of them! Since they are all not so exciting I thought I would just share my favorites of the ones I did. I used the jumbo wheel Matey's Map with an uninked cartridge inked in versa mark. I love wheels because they make projects look great and they go so much faster.

I really like how the treasure chest turned out on this page. I used my 2 way glue pen and I sprinkled dazzling diamonds for behind the treasure and then I used my New rhinestone brads ( the tiny ones) and used them as jewels in the box. I cut the top of the box off so it would be open. I also used some of my silver cord and made a necklace and put a "ruby" on it.

This page is the other side of the layout for the treasure chest page. It is simple but to bring the two pages together I added some rhinestones to the corners. I just love how pretty they are.

So here is another page with the jumbo wheel. I used a black ink cartridge with this map and then I colored the map with my blender pen and then I sponged around the map with Close to Cocoa ink to give it an older look. Don't worry I won't bother you with any more of the pages from this baby book. This is just what I have been up to the past couple of days. Maybe I will be able to do some cards now that I have finished the pages. I still haven't done the outside of the album. We'll see what I come up with next.

More Pages for my Brag Book Gift

I got a bit of scrap booking done this morning after I cleaned my house. Okay so my house isn't spotless but it is tidy! I was able to get most of my stamping done while my kids were sleeping. On this page I didn't want the safety pin, since this is a pirate themed baby book, so I covered up the safety pin with a bit of a post-it note and inked up the image in the Blue Bayou ink, then I removed the post-it note and stamped the image on whisper white CS. Then I used my Stamp-a-ma-jig to position the anchor in the right place.

On this page I used my SU! tag punches and I made a tag that can have a sentiment stamped on it or something written about the picture.

I took the ship image and stamped it on whisper white, Soft Sky, and River Rock Card stock. I used my blender pen to color in the image on the WW CS and then I cut out the body of the ship out of the River Rock and I cut out the waves from the Soft Sky CS.

This was a very simple page to do. I stamped Ahoy, Matey in Close to Cocoa and then a bird in Soft Sky. Punched out the sentiment with my 1 1/4" circle punch and then I punched out another circle with my 1 3/8" circle punch. I then punched a 1/8" circle out of my makeshift tag and then I added some taupe grosgrain ribbon.

I inked up just the bird for this page and I used my blender pen to color him in. I used my square punches and then I put the bird on an angle when I went to glue the squares together.

This is a technique called spotlighting. I stamped the image of the pirate in Close to Cocoa and I did not color him in. I stamped him again on another sheet of card stock and I colored him in with a blender pen. I then took the smaller of my two square punches and I punched out the part of the pirate I liked best and then I framed it in Soft Sky Card Stock. I glued the two squares together then I lined them up with the image on the scrapbook page. I still have at least 10 more pages to go so I can post them later when I have done them. I hope to get them all done tonight. That would make me happy!

So it is the summer and it seems like Everyone is getting married, so why not make a wedding card?! I made this card with the Year after Year Stamp Set. I really like this set because it has a little bit of everything. I used the Baroque Motifs for the background to match the paper. I used Shimmery White CS of course for this card because it is just SO beautiful. I stamped the cake in Basic Black so I could use my blender pen to color it in. Now I just have to wait for the next wedding to use this card!

Ahoy, Matey!

My brother and sister-in-law will be having a little boy sometime in August so I am making them a brag book to add pictures to. Here is an idea I thought up while I was stamping last night. If you want to make a scrapbook for someone and you don't have their photos you can use a sticky note and write the size of the photo that will fit in the designated space. Then when they get the scrapbook they don't have to go and measure out how big the photograph has to be.

I had a lot of fun doing this map. I used my blender pen to color in the map on River Rock paper. I sponged around the map to give it a worn look and then I crumpled again and again until I got the look I was going for.
Supplies:

Stamp Sets: Ahoy, Matey!, Headline Alphabet, Euphoria Alphabet

Paper: Designer Series Paper Prints Soft Sky, Soft Sky, Blue Bayou, River Rock, Whisper White

Ink: Soft Sky, Blue Bayou, River Rock, Real Red, Old Olive, Chocolate Chip, Close to Cocoa, Summer Sun

Accessories: Matey's Map Jumbo Wheel, Basic Black Jumbo Cartridge, Hemp Twine,

Happy Independence Day to you all!

Be cautioned that this card does not use any traditional stamps for this festive card. If you read some of my previous posts you would know that I don't have any star stamps. One day I will do something about it. Anyway, I thought I needed to make an Independence day card anyway because I am proud to be an American and I thought I could celebrate by making a card. This is kind of what I came up with while I was taking a nap yesterday. To make the stripes I used some painters tape to go where the white lines are, then I used my watercolor joy wheel and rolled it over the exposed shimmery white card stock and then peeled off the tape. Now I have stripes! The big flower was done from Pick a Petal, I added dazzling diamonds to the polka dots, the middle of the flower and along the stripes. For the sentiment I actually took Happy from a Happy Anniversary Stamp and used my Euphoria Alphabet to put in 4th

Supplies:

Stamp Sets: Pick a Petal, Hugs and Wishes, Euphoria Alphabet

Paper: Shimmery White, Rose Red

Ink: Craft Ballet Blue, Rose Red

Accessories: Watercolor Joy Wheel, 2 way glue pen, dazzling diamonds,

College Fans!

So we are going to a birthday party tonight for one of our great friends. I am not the best at coming up with male birthday cards so I did my best with this one. It turns out that our friend is a Super UNC Fan. For those of you who do not know where UNC is, it is in Chapel Hill, NC. It is also the college that Micheal Jordan went to. Anyway, I tried to go with the Carolina Blue theme. The whole background is stamped with the Linen background stamp and then UNC is embossed with White Emboss Powder. A piece of velum is put over the top with Happy Birthday also embossed with White EP then the velum is tacked down with bashful blue brads.

Supplies:

Stamps: Headline Alphabet, Linen Background, It's Your Birthday

Paper: Bashful Blue, Velum

Ink: Bashful Blue, Versa Mark

Accessories: White Embossing Powder, Soft Sutles Brads

While we were on the subject of colleges, I thought I would share this awesome card I received in a card swap. When I did the card swap it was around the time when the Virginia Tech Massacre happened. I thought this card was very appropriate.
